From the Book of Lamentations:
“Renew our days as of old.”
This verse holds within it the paradox of wisdom. “Renew our days” speaks of the longing for change, freshness, and release from old patterns that no longer serve us. While “as of old” expresses nostalgia, a desire to return to something ancient and familiar.
Maybe that is the essence of wisdom with Hebrew - to live in the balance between the old and the new, between deep roots and fresh growth, without losing the core of who we are.
מתוך מגילת איכה:
״הֲשִׁיבֵנוּ ה אֵלֶיךָ וְנָשׁוּבָה חַדֵּשׁ יָמֵינוּ כְּקֶדֶם”
משפט שמגלם בתוכו פרדוקס של חוכמה - ״חדש ימינו״ מבטא כמיהה להתחדשות, שינוי, רענון ושחרור מן המסגרות הקיימות שאינן מיטיבות עמנו. בזמן ש״ימינו כקדם״ מבטא איזשהו נוסטלגיה ורצון לשחזר משהו קדום, שאינו חדש.
והנה בדיוק החוכמה עצמה - לחיות בתנועה שבין ישן לחדש, בין שורשים עמוקים לצמיחה מחודשת מבלי לאבד את המהות עצמה. להצליח ליצור משהו חדש שמתבסס על מה שהיה קיים לפניו.
